10 Ways to Combat Winter Hair Shedding Naturally

Stress from my work had caused me to stop eating as well, and stay up late, which led to coffee-laden afternoons, and insomnia-ridden nights. Exercise? Yeah right. So since the beginning of the year, I’ve actively been trying to approach my hair and scalp health from the inside out. And it’s been working!

Here’s what I did:

10 Steps to Combat Winter Hair Shedding Naturally

1. Drink more water – I’m up to 6 glasses a day, plus I’m eating more fruits and veggies. I hate drinking cold water in cold weather, so I either drink it room temp, or hot with a twist of lemon.

2. Get more sleep – I’ve been pretty good about getting to bed my midnight, gonna shoot for 11pm next month.

3. Find ways to destress – Believe it or not, your haircan fall out temporarily due to stress.

4. Wear protective styles – I’ll post more on this soon, but I’ve been keeping my hair in two-strand twists and it’s really made a huge difference

5. Wear silk or satin scarves - Instead of throwing out your wool hats, you can wear scarves under them for a cute look. You can slo invest in one of those silk bonnets, I put this one on under my hat sometimes. I also really like those “snoopy” hats, because the fur is nice and soft and won’t snag hair

6. Take a vitamin supplement – I’m back to taking my daily multiple, and a biotin supplements . Biotin as well as other B vitamins can be beneficial for hair growth and for preventing hair loss.

7. Rinse hair with tea – I will go into detail in an upcoming post, but apparently the tannins in tea are beneficial to the hair shaft. I’ve been using cooled black and sometimes green tea as a weekly rinse as a deep conditioner and it’s made a WORLD of difference in terms of detangling and shedding.

8. Sleep on a Satin pillow – When I travel, I bring an extra-wide scarf and just tie it around the pillow.

9. Never detangle your hair when it’s dry – I only detangle my hair section by section with a Shower comb when it’s sopping wet and each section is full of conditioner and a few drops of oil.

10. Moisturize and Trim your ends

"American Idol" sensation Fantasia Barrino is thrilled with the recent birth of her baby Dallas Xavier, but friends say she's now facing a painful dilemma.

The 27-year-old singer needs to work to support her children but hates the prospect of being separated from her precious new son.

Fantasia, who's also mom to a 10-year-old daughter, delivered her son on Dec. 13, two weeks ahead of her due date.

The dad is her boyfriend Antwaun Cook, who is stilled married to his estranged wife Paula, say insiders.

"Fantasia has a lot of people to support," explained a source close to the Season 3 winner of the popular FOX program.

"A few years ago, she dug herself into a deep financial hole that took her a long time to get out of. She's still financing an expensive lifestyle and touring constantly to pay for it.

Tami Roman has a lot to say! The outspoken Basketball Wife recently sat down with Egypt Said So and chatted about the new season of Basketball Wives, as well as how she managed to keep money in her pocket in the past and her pending lawsuit with former manager, Jerry Silverhardt.

She also reveals that she’s in a very serious relationship and sort of danced around the pending drama between Basketball Wives Jen and Ev.

On why she decided to joined the second season of ‘Basketball Wives’
With “Basketball Wives,” they approached me when they did their first season. They contacted [my manager] and you know I just wasn’t really ready to go on a show, talk about Kenny. You know I had moved so past that. In addition to, I really didn’t want to go back to the reality genre. So between the year that they had their first season and the second season which is when I actually came onto the show, my family fell on a hardship I actually introduced that on the show. You know my daughters and I had been on food stamps and we had been on medical assistance through the state of New Jersey. And so I was looking for something income wise. I was working a 9-5 job in corporate America. And when I watched the first season of Basketball Wives I felt like my story wasn’t on there. I’m sitting here like in the dark. My lights are out. You know that’s not my moment. I’m not champagne brunching and mani’s and pedi’s everyday and I felt that I had a valuable story to tell…to show my particular situation and what me and my daughter’s were going through so I contacted VH1.

On how she was earning a living before Basketball Wives
I’ve been working in the industry like I said for 12, 13 years. I literally book a TV show every year as a series regular. Now what people don’t understand about the industry is we do pilots. Then the pilots go through a testing phase and if they don’t test well they don’t get picked up and they never make it to air. But I’ve basically been supporting myself for these 12 years doing pilots.

On whether a fight really broke out between Jennifer and Evelyn at Shaunie O’Neal’s birthday party
I can’t really give too much away but I can tell you this. This season is filled with a lot of twists and turns. Alliances that were there or that people have followed through the “Basketball Wives” journey that they thought were solid, some of those fall by the wayside, some of those alliances are re-established. You know everything is kinda all over the place and I have to tell you honestly the past two seasons that we’ve been on…we end the season and I feel that we’re all gonna at least be cool. That everybody can be amicable for the most part. This is the one time and we’re still taping that I really don’t know how this is gonna end. I don’t know whose gonna be friends, whose gonna hate each other, because it’s really all over the place.

So far so good. Knock on wood. We’ve just been hanging in there. We decided that we want to be in a committed relationship with each other and because we love each other. We’re raising three daughters between the two of us and that’s important for us to present a strong foundation and a strong family unit for them. So we don’t want to be the type of people that have significant others coming in and out of our kids lives and once we decided to be committed to each other, that’s what it’s been and going strong for about four years now. Babies, I don’t think. I would have another baby for him because I’m so in love with him so I would have another baby but he doesn’t want to have anymore children and marriage, you know we both have been there and done that and, we have that ring, we have that wedding, we have that piece of paper and those things were the most tumultuous relationships that we have been in so now we’re just making a commitment to each other on another level-spiritually, emotionally and physically- that we can just stand behind and stand solid on. We really don’t need the paper.
